Anthony Grey

Anthony Grey

Biography

Our second confirmed author speaker Anthony Grey is a highly experienced journalist who has been awarded a UK International Journalist of the Year Award, ‘Man of the Year’, and an OBE. When he asked to be involved in this year’s Unconvention event in Colchester it was an easy decision to say yes!

Anthony’s career has spanned roles including local newspaper reporter, Reuters journalist, radio and television broadcaster, documentary writer, celebrity talk show guest, historical novelist and keynote speaker at events worldwide. Fifteen years ago Anthony set up his own publishing company Tagman Press known affectionately as the small publisher with the big heart.

In the 1960s, Anthony was held prisoner in China for 27 months on erroneous charges of spying. The experience of being held in solitary confinement has been the basis of a number of Anthony’s books, including his most recent work The Hostage Handbook which was published by Tagman Press in 2009. It is based around diaries which Anthony kept secret from his captors during his time as a political hostage. This experience, alongside Anthony’s large bibliography of both fiction and non-fiction books should provide plenty of material for an interesting and entertaining presentation.
